Iowa City schools enrollment up 3.6 percent

IOWA CITY – The Iowa City school district's certified enrollment increased 3.63 percent this school year, reaching 12,454 students, according to a report released by the district Thursday.
That equates to 436 more students than last school year.
The biggest increase came in the elementary schools, with 233 more students this year. The junior high schools had 60 more students and the high schools had 71.
The district's enrollment has increased 6.3 percent since the 2007-08 school year.
The certified enrollment is the number used to determine state funding for a district.
