Salute hospice workers for their work, care
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 10, 2011 11:39 pm
During November, the medical profession recognizes National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and Gov. Terry Branstad recently proclaimed November as Hospice Month in Iowa. Iowa Hospice, serving Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas, salutes the special people who work in this field.
Hospice provides a unique blend of clinical, emotional and spiritual support services for patients and their families. This care adds quality and dignity to the lives of patients facing end-of-life illnesses. Hospice care provides pain and symptom management with the necessary medications and medical equipment while allowing the patient to stay at home.
The support provided to families allows them to focus on spending quality time with their loved one rather than on care-giving details during this difficult time. Hospice also is there to support the family after their loss.
Thank you to hospice caregivers for the important work they do daily.
Rick Breuss
Regional Vice President
