Famous Idaho Potato Bowl joins a long list of distinguished bowls

Today's news that the Humanitarian Bowl has become the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl set off a wave of nostalgia.
Think of all the great bowls that have come before the Potato Bowl. Among the current bowls alone, we have the GoDaddy.com Bowl, the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the BBVA Compass Bowl.
The Meineke Car Care Bowl of Charlotte changed its name to the Belk Bowl, but then the ridiculously named Texas Bowl was rechristened the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas.
We have a Military Bowl and an Armed Forces Bowl. To balance that, there is a game named after a flower, called the Rose Bowl.
But let's not forget those that came before us and have moved on to the great Bowl in the Sky.
The Aviation Bowl was played in Dayton, Ohio in 1961.
The Bacardi Bowl also was a one-time affair, in Havana, Cuba. Villanova and Auburn played to a 7-7 tie.
The Cherry Bowl gave Pontiac, Mich., an extravaganza in 1984 and 1985. Army defeated Michigan State 10-6 in the 1985 edition, which may have killed the game all by itself.
We all fondly recall the Pineapple/Poi Bowl, the Raisin Bowl, the Salad Bowl. They may have all been in the same bowl.
How about the Garden State Bowl and the Silicon Valley Classic?
The Champs Sports Bowl was formerly the Blockbuster Bowl, the Carquest Bowl, the Micron PC Bowl, the Micron PC.com Bowl and the Tangerine Bowl.
A postseason classic
