Jennie A. (Kinkead) Dye, 82, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to
7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 19, 2018, at the funeral home conducted by Vicki Standley. Burial will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Jennie was born June 6, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Klemm) Kinkead. She graduated from Marion High School in 1955 and remained friends with many of her classmates. On Aug. 20, 1961, in San Diego, Calif., Jennie was united in marriage to Robert H. Dye. She and Bob opened up their home and helped raise their nieces and nephew, Cris, Lorrie and Craig.
Jennie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. She cooked for the church youth group for many years and worked in the church office. She also taught Sunday school and volunteered with various church activities and committees. She spent her life caring for others. She made the best cookies and Christmas goodies.
Jennie is survived by her brothers, Melvin "Dick" (Mary) Kinkead and Scott Kinkead; her stepsons, James Churchill and Thomas Dye; her "kids," Cris (Michelle) Kinkead, Lorrie Balk and Craig Kinkead; niece, Rae (Cory) Eschen; nephew, Vaughn Kinkead; uncle, Frank Klemm; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She also was survived by many cousins and extended family. She made many friends at Linn Manor and she had a special bond with Jake Skvor and his family.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and son-in-law, Jeff Balk.
