EDWARD "ED" JOHN VANOUS

Edward "Ed" John Vanous, 45, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Ed was born Dec. 26, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, to John Edward and Morean (Plattenberger) Vanous. He attended Lisbon Community Schools and graduated in 1989. He married Jean Darbyshire on June 23, 2001, in Lisbon. He was a mechanic, working on buses for Cedar Rapids Community Schools. In his non-working hours, Ed enjoyed spending time outdoors: hunting, fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Tyler Vanous and Joshua Wagner; daughter, Shea Vanous; two granddaughters; mother, Morean Vanous; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends; and pets, Sadie and Coco.
Ed was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Robert and Anna Mae Vanous; and maternal grandparents, Roy and Betty Plattenberger.
Memorials will be donated to local Lisbon organizations in Ed's name.
