Legalizing marijuana would boost economy

If the government was smart, it would legalize something that would help the economy. Now, I'm not a user of marijuana, but with marijuana being the most commonly used illegal drug, I would think it would be legalized by now.
Think of all the revenue the government could make from the marijuana tax! There are many users of marijuana and they would be willing to pay a measly tax on it to be able to smoke in public. Not only would it help those who want it legalized, but it would help out the everyday citizen. More revenue means the recession begins to decrease and the United State's deficit lowers!
