Scott Shepherd, 55, of Watkins, died suddenly Aug. 5, 2016, at his home in rural Watkins. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Blairstown Legion Hall with Pastor Mike Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, also at Blairstown Legion Hall. Interment will be in Norway Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Scott was born March 12, 1961, to James Arthur and Elaine (Kennard) Shepherd in Iowa City. He graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1979 and attended Kirkwood Community College, where he received his registered nurse degree. Scott was united in marriage to Christine Sagon. He worked as an RN for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He is survived by his wife, Christine of Watkins; five brothers, James Shepherd II of Solon, Ned (Jackie) Shepherd of Bettendorf, John Shepherd of Iowa City, Todd (Julie) Shepherd of Iowa City and Jeff (Pam) Shepherd of Houston, Texas; son, Patrick Sagon, daughter, Caitlyn Sagon, and granddaughter, Elaina Sagon, all of Watkins; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Rosie, Bear and Moe Kitty.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Barb Shepherd; and his beloved dog, Periklhs.
