Orcutt, Robert B.
NEWHALL - Robert B. Orcutt, 90, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Evergreen Estates III Residential Care Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born March 21, 1920, near Troy Mills, to Harry and Una (Trevor) Orcutt, and graduated from Troy Mills High School. On Nov. 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Donna Olson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norway. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2001.
Robert farmed in the Newhall area until moving to town in 1973. He was also employed at Midland Forge and retired in 1985.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall and the Newhall Leisure Club. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work, but his greatest pleasure came from traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Marsha) Orcutt of Middletown, Ohio; his daughter, Chris (Wendell) Maakestad of Cedar Rapids; his granddaughter, Tonya (Brent) Trudo of Robins; his grandson, Brian (Carleen) Lensch of New Hope, Minn.; his stepgrandson, Steve (Kim) Maakestad of Robins; four great-grandchildren, Amaya and Christian Maakestad and Tyler and Megan Trudo; his brother, Dr. Paul (Peggy) Orcutt of Marion; and his sister-in-law, Zetta Orcutt of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Wayne Lensch; and his brother, Russell Orcutt.
A memorial fund has been established.
