A 42-year-old Tipton man was arrested for class D felony possession of a controlled substance after police say they observed him swallowing part of a bag of drugs.
Reports indicate that Scot Andrew Flora, 42, of 909 Lynn Street, was pulled over by North Liberty Police after he was driving erratically on May 17. When officers made contact with him, Flora was allegedly observed to have contraband in his mouth, which he swallowed.
Flora admitted to swallowing part of a bag of meth when under Miranda, North Liberty Police said.
According to Iowa Court Records, Flora has a lengthy record with previous arrests for drug-related offenses and first degree theft first beginning in the 1980s. Flora was arrested for second degree theft, possession of a controlled substance and eluding police in Washington County earlier this year.
Flora was being held at the Johnson County Jail on Monday morning. He is now being held at the Newton Correctional Facility and has a possibile release date in December of 2017, Iowa Department of Corrections records indicate.
Third or subsequent offense of possession of a controlled substance is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $7,500 fine.
