Trial was rescheduled Thursday for a Solon man accused of shooting an Iowa City apartment resident during an attempted robbery in February.
Dakota Lee Williams, 18, is charged with attempted murder, going armed with intent, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Williams' trial was previously reset to Oct. 11, and District Court Judge Paul Miller on Thursday moved the trial date to Jan. 18.
Iowa City police said Williams, wielding a handgun, forced his way into an apartment in the 900 block of North Dodge Street, while pointing a handgun at a 27-year-old man and demanding money.
The victim resisted, and during the struggle Williams put the gun to the victim's head and threatened to shoot him. Police said the gun discharged during the struggle, and the victim was shot in both hands.
Williams' pretrial conference is set for Jan. 6. He remains in custody at the Marshall County Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.
