Ronald P. Kula, 74, of Prairieburg, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prairieburg. Visitation: 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, with a Scripture service starting at 3:30 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen of Prairie-burg; stepson, Shane Power of Central City; five brothers, Gene (Barb) Kula, Kenneth (Judy) Kula, Gary (Lorraine) Kula, Vernie (Varaiya) Kula and Arnie (Linda) Kula; and five sisters, Maggie Grassfield, Karen Bulman, Sharon (Dennis) Dolan, Joanne (Chuck) Madison and Roberta (Allen) Haley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Shawn Power; and two brothers-in-law, Darrell Grassfield, and John Bulman.
Ronald was born July 1, 1941, to Ralph and Geraldine (Barns) Kula in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Colleen Power on Oct. 23, 1981, in Anamosa.
Ronald worked 35 1/2 years for the Linn County Road Department and was a member of the Good Old Boys in Prairieburg. He was mayor of Prairieburg for 10 years, and also a member of the Prairieburg Telephone Co. for 18 years.
Ronald loved his grandchildren, Lauren, Mya and Keara. He really loved to go fishing with Shane and Shawn.
