Police say Iowa City man had sex with 14-year-old
An Iowa City man is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in 2007, when he was 19 years old.
Daniel J. Nichols, of 1280 Dolen Place, is facing a charge of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He was in the Johnson County Jail Friday morning on a $10,000 cash bond.
Nichols, who is now 22 years old, had an intimate sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in October 2007, according to Iowa City police. At the time, Nichols was five years and two months older than the alleged victim, police said. He admitted to having sex with the girl during a police interview, police said.
