Garrett, Mary L.
Mary L. Garrett, 91, of Marion, formerly of Monticello, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by Pastor Darran Whiting. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home on Monday. Private family inurnment: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, at a later date.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Jeanne (David) Whiting and Karen (Dick) Pflughaupt; grandchildren, Denise Smith, Dyan Whiting, Darran Whiting, Deb Whiting, Todd Pflughaupt and Troy Pflughaupt; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Raymond Junior Davis and Jean Goodall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; children, Jimmy Garrett and Janet Fuller; granddaughter, Becky Whiting; and siblings, Martha Knupp, Ruth Vaverka, Alice Kalke, Rosemond Campbell, Carl, Allen, and Wayne Davis and Sue Behnke.
Mary was born May 2, 1922, in Plymouth, Ind., the daughter of Raymond and Elsie (Schrom) Davis. She graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1940. Mary married Jim Garrett on July 25, 1942, in Waynesville, Mo. She loved visiting and spending time with family and friends. She also greatly enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
