Scottie Shawn Bowerman died unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on Friday, June 23, 2017. All are welcome to attend his celebration of life at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at First Congregational Church, Anamosa.
Condolences and flowers may be sent to the church.
Scott was born Dec. 19, 1970, to Dave and Mary Lou Bowerman in Belleville, Ill. He graduated from Prairie High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1989, then joined the Army and served in the Gulf War until 1992. After leaving the Army, he attended Kirkwood Community College. After college, he moved to Belleville and worked road construction. He was a member of Local 670. Scott married Venus Wells in 2001 and was divorced in 2005. They had a daughter, Malorie Faith Bowerman.
Scott is survived by a sister, Kristie (Shane) Neunaber of Anamosa; a brother, Tom (Angie) LaPointe of Belleville; a brother, Dave (Lori) Nightingale of Monticello; a sister, Mindy Fagen and Steve Eiselstein of North Liberty; nephews, Brandon Barnhart, Christopher Nightingale, Greg LaPointe and Michael Miller; nieces, Indeea Wery, Tearannie Kreimeyer, Alyssa Nightingale, Rylee Nightingale and Alexis Fagen; great-nieces and great-nephews, Caiden and Christian Howard, Jade Wery, Josiah Miller, Jaimie Kreimeyer, Parker Miller and Braxton Nightingale; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his stepfather, Glen Nightingale; his mother, Mary Lou Nightingale; and his grandparents, Elmer and Della Whiting.
Scott was a loving father, son, friend and brother and will be deeply missed by each of us.
