Connie Smith
Connie died at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at the age of 70. A private family graveside service will be held with Mr. Dennis Smith officiating.
Connie was born on March 21, 1942, in rural Keokuk County, Iowa. She was raised in Ladora, Iowa, and graduated from Ladora High School with the class of 1960.
She was united in marriage to Merle Smith on June 26, 1960, at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. The couple owned and operated a grain and livestock farm south of Victor.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and raising Sheltie puppies. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo.
She is survived by her mother, Darlene; sons, Neal (Paula) Smith and David (Tara) Smith; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Newville; brother, Jim (Edith) Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan, Caitlin, Jack and Jonah; and good friend of Connie and her family, Connie Sue Boerjan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; and her father, George Smith.
A memorial fund has been established.
Smith Funeral Home of Victor is in charge of arrangements.
