Leland R. Lewis, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Survivors include his husband, Michael Lewis; sons, Michael Lewis and Eric Lewis, both from Sioux Falls, S.D.; and sisters, Bernita Bradshaw of Lubbock, Texas, Carol Wethingeon of Cortez, Colo., and Diane Miller of Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leland was born Oct. 27, 1937, in El Dorado, Kan., son of Delmar and Leona (Wecker) Lewis. He graduated from high school in Colorado and got his chemistry degree at University of Phoenix in Phoenix. On July 26, 2009, in Des Moines, Iowa, Leland and Michael were united in marriage. Leland was a member of the American Chemical Society and St. Jude's Church.
