Pastor Ronald Burton McKee (known by friends as "Fibber"), 78, of Marion, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the church by Pastor Dave King. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Bushnell Township Cemetery, Bushnell, Ill.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret; children, Steven (Jan) McKee of Lagrange, Ind., Daniel (Paula) McKee of Smithfield, Ill., Lora (Jay) Anderson of Kalona and Diane Ashline of Strawberry Point; grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Steven, Alex, Abagail, Kolby, Quinton, Bre, Austin and Cheyenne; great-grandchildren, Owen, Kaden, Kash and Khalei; brothers, Terry, Lanny, Mark and Jason McKee; and stepmother, Ann Carlile.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mike McKee.
Ron was born June 6, 1938, in Macomb, Ill., to Estel and Lora (Hamm) McKee. He grew up in rural farming communities in Illinois. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. On Dec. 18, 1959, he married Margaret Potter in Fairbanks, Alaska. Ron was ordained in 1990 and served as pastor in LaHarpe, Ill., Lomax, Ill., North Pekin, Ill., Streator, Ill., and Britt, Iowa. He presently served as senior adult pastor at Oakland Church of the Nazarene.
Ron enjoyed reading, sports, traveling, and mentoring young couples in the Lord.
He will be greatly missed.
