Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust CEO named Metro Economic Alliance award winner

The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance will present Larry Helling, founder, president and CEO of Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust, with its Howard Hall Excellence in Business Award at its annual meeting next month.
Doug Neumann, executive director of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, cited Helling's 30 years of experience in announcing the 2018 award on Wednesday.
'Larry has created a culture of volunteerism and community support at Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust, which he strongly leads by example giving hours of his own time back into our community,” Neumann said in a prepared statement.
Among other duties, Helling serves as a board member of the Entrepreneurial Development Center and was its past president, as well as being a member of the Large Investor Council of the Metro Economic Alliance and was its past chairman.
He also serves on the board of trustees for the United Way of East Central Iowa and at the Brucemore National Historic site, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Cedar Rapids and was its past president.
The Metro Economic Alliance's annual meeting will be Jan. 24 at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
