Letter: Governor should evaluate his priorities

Water quality ('Session fails to address water quality,” April 30) was Gov. Terry Branstad's 'top priority for the session”? He couldn't forge any agreement with Senate Democrats? Forgive me while I laugh out loud!
Five years ago, Gov. Branstad went onto floor of the Iowa Legislature to force the passage of legislation legalizing dove hunting - against the overwhelming opposition of ordinary Iowans. He didn't have any problems with Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal getting that done.
Now, we're led to believe they can't come to any agreement on dealing with Iowa's terrible water quality? When everyone knows we need action?
The Gazette's headline should have said: 'Session succeeds in failing to address water quality.” If both political parties are enthralled to the status quo, voters should vote against every incumbent.
