Donald H. Tufts, 79, of Marion, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at his home. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Jorgensen. Family will greet friends one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Burial: 2:30 p.m., Prairie Hill Cemetery, west of Monticello, and across from St. Peter and Paul's Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Velda; a sister, Jayne Christensen; and an aunt, Maxine Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Donald was born March 20, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Grant S. and Lydia F. (Miller) Tufts. On May 22, 1955, Donald was united in marriage to Velda Mae Rickels at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Anamosa. He worked as a machine operator at Rockwell for 32 years.
Donald was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and IBEW 1362.
He was a loving husband.
