Newberry, Gerald William
Gerald William Newberry, 90, died Nov. 27, 2010, at English Valley Care Center.
Gerald was the son of John and Vera (Churchill) Newberry. He married Greta Ballard in 1941.
He is survived by his wife, Greta; children, Eldon (Nancy) of Amana and Daryl (Joan) and Karl, both of North English, and Lynette (Dan) Rickels of Anamosa; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Loren in 1946; his parents; sisters, Hazel O'Brien, Helen Huston and Marvel Olson; and brother, Mace Humphrey.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in North English Cemetery.
A general memorial fund has been established.
