Irony on The Gazette’s front page
Daniel Hahn
Mar. 7, 2018 12:00 am
The front page of The Gazette on Feb. 16 stuck me as extremely odd. The photos of the young people all grieving over the school shooting in Florida on the same age as a story about how school vouchers are going to be put on hold yet again. For a nation of educated people we sure are stupid.
How many shootings do we need to have before we realize that our current system of education is broken? We're never going to eradicate guns. (Nor should we.) But when will we figure out the following truth? When you make your children spend a large percentage of their time in an institution, sooner or later a fair share of them are going to act like someone who belongs in an institution.
