Becker, Mark D.
Mark D. Becker, 49, died peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications related to cerebral palsy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Newman Catholic Student Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Systems Unlimited, Camp Sunnyside or the Newman Center.
Mark was born Nov. 27, 1963, in Fort Dodge, the son of Louis and Barbara (Voigts) Becker. The family moved to Iowa City from Humboldt when Mark was 6 years old. Mark was a 1985 graduate of Iowa City West High School special education program and attended classes at Kirkwood Community College.
Mark enjoyed Hawkeye sports, fishing and time spent at family reunions. He loved watching CNN, woodworking shows and his favorite, The Young and the Restless. Dinner rolls and pie were always welcome.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Systems Unlimited and the staff at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the years of support and care they have provided to Mark.
Survivors include his father, Louis Becker (Cindy Cochran); his sister, Karen (Chuck) Oberman; nephews and niece, Jordin, Dakoda and Cheyenne Flory, all of Iowa City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara in 2008; and his grandparents.
