Brenda Kay Maly, 45, of Ely, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Brenda was born Jan. 23, 1973, the daughter of Owen and Linda (Breidinger) O'Hara, in Spencer, Iowa. She was married to William "Bill" Maly on Feb. 21, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev. Brenda worked for Transamerica in various departments for many years.
She greatly enjoyed crocheting and was very much a chocoholic. Her favorite television shows were "The Bachelor" and "American Idol." More than anything, Brenda had a strong love for her family. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Maly; two daughters, Rachel and Ashley Maly; father, Owen O'Hara; sister, Tammy Lapenna; mother-in-law, Marilyn Maly; and brother-in-law, John (Kendra) Maly.
She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
