Mark Wayne Peveto, 44, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. This was his ultimate victory after a long-fought battle with cancer.

A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at First Assembly of God Church (Blairs Ferry Road) in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Alicia Peveto of Cedar Rapids; parents, Sam Peveto and Pat Webb of Orange, Texas; in-laws, Terri and Perry Tharp of Palo and Paul and Julie Richards of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Renee (Brent) Fontenot and Jeannie (Kemon) Zenos, both of Orange, Texas, Cindy (Joe) Rebeiro of Manteca, Calif., and Samantha (Ronnie) Haymon of Orange, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Horace and Lola Peveto; and maternal grandparents, Walter and Addie Cagle.

Mark Wayne Peveto was born Oct. 11, 1973, in Orange, Texas, the son of Sam Peveto and Pat (Cagle) Webb. He graduated from Texas School for the Blind in Austin, Texas, in 1993. He worked for many years as a switchboard operator at the VA hospital in Biloxi, Miss. In 2014, he met the love of his life, Alicia Richards. They married on Sept. 9, 2016.

Mark considered Alicia his "Princess," as she considered him her "Southern Prince." He enjoyed working with old technology, cooking Southern food and making others laugh with his stories and humor.

Above all, his passion was for worshipping his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his surviving spouse.
