The Cameron Wilson news could've been crossed off the list nearly two weeks ago. This is now the third time his name has cycled through the news (Big Ten media days, last weekend's OWI arrest and now today's official UI announcement of his departure).
Either this isn't a great moment in information management, or there was something else going on that held up an announcement.
Former Marion High School prep Drew Clark will forgo his fifth year. The O-lineman instead has decided to concentrate on his engineering degree.
Here's the UI release:
IOWA CITY, IOWA - - University of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz announced Monday that two scholarship student-athletes, senior offensive lineman Drew Clark and redshirt freshman wide receiver Cameron Wilson, have chosen to leave the Hawkeye football program.
Clark, a native of Marion, has elected to forego his fifth season of eligibility to focus on completing his degree in engineering. Clark will earn his degree in May, 2014. Clark redshirted in 2009 and has seen limited action throughout his career.
Wilson is a native of Dublin, Ohio, who redshirted last season. In early July, Wilson notified Ferentz that he would transfer to another institution for the 2013 fall semester. Wilson has completed his summer schedule of courses at Iowa.
