McDaniel, Evelyn Louise
Evelyn Louise McDaniel, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A private family graveside service will be held. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include daughters, Penny (Al) Bailey, Pam (John) Wharton and Patrice (Steve Corpstein) Jackson; son, John (Julie) McDaniel; grandchildren, Abby Jackson, Jennifer (Jeff) Thompson, Shannon (Andrea) Rippey, Erica (Ryan) Bascom, Josh (Riley) Wharton, Matt Wharton, Abbie (Scott) Rathje, Kylea (Zach) Zmoos and Drake; great-grandchild, Grayson; and brother, Richard Kretschmar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clifford “Mac” McDaniel in 1992.
Evelyn was born May 23, 1921, the daughter of John and Louise (Conrad) Kretschmar in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On April 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Clifford McDaniel in Kahoka, Mo. She graduated from Mount Mercy Nursing School with her RN degree on May 19, 1942. Evelyn worked as a nurse for Dr Flynn Sr. and Mercy Hospital for many years, retiring in 1984.
