Darrow, Delbert E.
Delbert E. Darrow, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Philip Thompson. Visitation at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway, with Military Rites.
Delbert was born August 30, 1939 in Anamosa, Iowa to Robert and Katherine Darrow. After graduation from high school, he spent two years in the Army, serving in Germany. He also worked for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 39 years.
He is survived by: his wife of 46 years, Mary; son Steve (Mary) Darrow of Cedar Rapids; daughter Rebecca (Jeff) Kramer of Marion; sisters Viola Douglas of Kingman, Arizona, and Bernice Westmark of Des Moines, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.
Delbert was a great husband, father, and friend. He loved building things and dancing. He was an all around good guy.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to St. Luke's Hospice.
