Lois Thompson, 89, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Anamosa Care Center.
Lois had a great sense of humor, enjoyed making cards and had a love for cardinals, swimming and spending time with family and friends. Lois was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Lois Thompson was born Jan. 24, 1929,
on a farm near Olin, Iowa. Lois and her husband, Fred, lived all over the United States throughout their lives and settled in Cedar Rapids after Fred's retirement from the Air Force. For several years after Fred passed in 1985, Lois remained in Cedar Rapids. She retired after working for the Social Security Administration for 30 years. She then moved to Anamosa in 2016, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her older sister, Ruth Burkey; stepson, Fred (Pat) Thompson and their children and grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Frankfurt; nephew and nieces, Rick (Julie) Frankfurt and their children and grandchildren, Renee (Max) Colbert and son and granddaughter, Jeff (Karen) Frankfurt and their children, Steve (Lorrie) Burkey, and Susan Stone and her children and grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her brother, Dean Frankfurt; nephew, Kelly Frankfurt; and brother-in-law, Bernard Burkey.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday. The burial will be held at a later date.
Special thanks to the staff at Anamosa Care Center and Unity Point Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Arc of East Central Iowa in honor of the Kelly Cordell family.
