Brunssen, Delmer Dean
Delmer Dean Brunssen, 86, of Elberon, passed away at home under hospice care on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the First Congregational Church, Belle Plaine, by the Rev. Pete Hagglund. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, with military Rites. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Delmer was born Nov. 15, 1924, in rural Elberon, to Carl and Alma (Hennings) Brunssen.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn; daughters and their spouses, Diane (Larry) Sand, Lilburn, Ga., Carol (Dennis) Schminke, Atkins, and Corene (Jan) Messer, Manchester; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Bachman, Evelyn Schoelerman and Lois Hain; sister-in-law, Elnora Brunssen; and brother-in-law, Ed Hain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laverna Cohrt and Elvera Sindt; and brothers, Roly, Marvin, Dick and two infant brothers.
