Conner, Cleo Leona

Cleo Leona Conner, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Cottage Grove. Cleo was born March 14, 1918, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Adrian and Leona (Holding) Cubbison. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with visitation starting at 1 p.m.

Cleo has lived in Marysville, Calif., Marion, Iowa and then Cedar Rapids, Mechanicsville and most recently to Cottage Grove. Cleo was a graduate of McKinley High School and worked two years at Bankers Life Insurance, two years at Quaker Oats and six years at Collins Radio before becoming a homemaker.

Cleo was an avid golfer and swimmer. She was one of the women who first organized the Ellis Park Women's Golf Association and she was one of the 26 best women golfers in Cedar Rapids. Cleo was a long time member of the Questions Club, Birthday Club and was on a bowling team.

Cleo is survived by nieces and nephews, Howard W. Bachman Jr. of Yarnell, Ariz., Linda Mitchell of Yamhill, Ore., Gary Bachman of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carole Lea Clauser of Albuquerque, N.M.

Cleo was preceded in death by her husbands, James Ludlow in 1965 and most recently, Keith Conner in 2004; parents; and a sister, Bernice Bachman.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation.
