Teachout, Julie Spahn
Julie Spahn Teachout, 52, of 3354 Hanover Court, Iowa City, died Saturday, July 24, 2010. The family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Newman Catholic Student Center. A memorial mass will follow at 6:15 p.m. at the Newman Center. Private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer's Association in honor of her mom, Bonnie Spahn. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.
Julie was born on June 13, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Bonnie Spahn. On Nov. 23, 1979, she was united in marriage to Steve Teachout in Dubuque.
Julie worked as a loan officer at Hills Bank and Trust until 2003, when she went to work for Steve Anderson at Hawkeye Title and Settlement.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kevin Teachout of Iowa City, and Patricia Teachout of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Kathy (John) Klecker of Pasadena, Calif., Nancy (Tom) Hora of Cedar Rapids, and Colleen Fitzgerald (Rob Whitman) of Iowa City; nieces and nephews, Thomas, Michael, Ben Klecker, Angie Hora Mathiasen, Emily
and Phil Hora, Shannon (Fitzgerald) Lynch, and Patrick, Megan and Molly Fitzgerald; two great-nephews, Emmett and Jacob Mathiasen; a grandniece, Hayden Lynch; aunts and uncles, Imogene Larson, Bernie and Adrian Ferreira, Sally Cover, Donna Cahalan, Shirley Cahalan; a very special aunt and Godmother, Mary Hoffman; and many wonderful cousins.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia.
