Sites and sights around the sports world, part V

As part of our many journeys covering sports, we encounter interesting and impromptu moments, whether it's in Iowa City or elsewhere. This week I'm throwing out a few random pictures from the most recent college sports season. Here are six from the past season:

Iowa held a pep rally on Sept. 12, 2014 in front of the Old Capitol, the eve of the school's rivalry game with Iowa State. ESPNU was there broadcasting it, but Iowa students weren't quite as involved as expected the night before the Hawkeyes played the Cyclones at Kinnick Stadium.
The view over Chicago is impressive, day or night, but particularly on this cold Feb. 27, 2015 evening where you can get a glimpse of the skyline. Iowa played at Penn State the next day, a game the Hawkeyes won 81-77 in overtime.
One hopes he can see landmarks anytime he flies over a familiar city, but this view on March 1, 2015 was unexpected. Here sits a snow-covered Wrigley Field in Chicago.
North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige is as impressive and articulate as any athlete I interviewed this year. This session took place Dec. 2, 2015 in Chapel Hill, N.C., the night before Paige's Tar Heels faced Iowa. The game had particular meaning for Paige, who grew up in Marion and graduated from Linn-Mar.
The basketball season is filled with weather delays, whether you're flying or driving. Luckily, the flight from University Park, Pa. to Chicago on March 1, 2015 left in fine shape despite the snow. In fact, I think it snows every year I cover a basketball game at Penn State.
I was surprised to find this fire hydrant outside the Crisler Center on Feb. 5, 2015. We all know what dogs do to fire hydrants, right?
