To the editor:
Recently, after hearing some uninformed people slamming and complaining about President Barack Obama and being disrespectful to his office, we decided to write down what President Obama and his administration have accomplished:
l Saved the automobile industry from going into bankruptcy.
l Passed the stimulus bill that prevented another great depression.
l Passed the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) which has provided over 20 million and counting uninsured Americans with insurance.
l Got much needed regulations for Wall Street.
l Got much needed credit card reform.
l Reformed college aid procedures.
l Got START (nuclear arms reduction treaty) passed.
l Authorized Osama bin Laden to be removed.
l Allowed more on-shore oil drilling, which is helping bring down gas prices.
l Stock market is at all-time high.
l Unemployment is at an all-time low.
l Consumer confidence is at an 11-year high.
l Recommended free two-year college for those who qualify.
l Tried to get job bill, immigration bill, equal pay for women bill, extended unemployment benefits, oil subsidy eliminated, tax benefits for corporations moving jobs to foreign countries eliminated. However, Republicans voted no on every item.
l Recommended a tax increase on the wealthy to help lower our debt. (For those who have much, much is expected). Republicans voted no.
President Obama has handled insults with dignity and grace. Like him or not, our first black president is leaving a great legacy.
