LEVEDA "VEDIE" DREES

Leveda Mae "Vedie" Drees, 83, of Manchester, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
She was born July 10, 1932, in Earlville, the daughter of Clem and Marie (Vaske) Wulfekuhle. Vedie attended St. Peter and Paul School in Petersburg. She farmed with her brothers until her marriage.
On Oct. 13, 1954, Vedie was united in marriage to Donald Drees in Petersburg. Seven children were born to this union. Together they farmed near Dyersville for 10 years. In 1964, they moved near Manchester, where they continued to farm. They retired from farming in 1985 and moved to Manchester.
Vedie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking and quilting. In her later years, she became an avid reader. Vedie enjoyed laughter, dancing and having fun at social events with her friends and family. She was always excited when she accomplished something on her "bucket list."
Survivors include her six children, Julene (Jim) Smith of Manchester, Duane (partner Brian Guilmain) of Edgewood, Shirley (Joe) Cole and Sharon (Russ) Boeckenstedt, all of Manchester, David of South Haven, Mich., and Dean (Tona) of Aubrey, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; one sister, Virginette Hoffman of Dyersville; one brother, Wildred (Joanne) Wulfekuhle of Winslow, Ill.; and three sisters-in-law, Elaine Wulfekuhle, Ann Drees and Alice Baty.
Vedie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, in 2001; her son, Dale, in 2008; three brothers; two sisters-in-law, Leroy (Madonna), Jerome (Alice) and Lester Wulfekuhle; one brother-in-law, Albin Hoffman; and Donald's sisters, brothers and in-laws.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, by the Rev. Joseph Schneider, the Rev. Ralph Simington and the Rev. Richard Gaul. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester. Friends also may call starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
