Schade, Arlene A.
Arlene A. Schade, 71, of 113 East Willman St., Hiawatha, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday The Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Steve) Berry of Hiawatha; two sisters, Pat (Jim) Wright of Marion and Kris (Scott) Davis of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren, Gage and Lucas; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Dennis) Gunn of Cedar Rapids; and a special daughter, Tracy (Sage) Meskimen of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Arlene was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Monticello, the daughter of John and Frances (Collins) Bunting. She married Karl F. Schade on Aug. 10, 1963, in Scotch Grove. He died in 2009. Arlene was a very skilled registered nurse. She worked with Dr. Clyde and Bill Meffert, Dr. Strong and was the supervisor of the OR at Des Moines General. Most recently she was at Crestview Acres.
Arlene was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed both college and pro sports and enjoyed attending and supporting her grandsons in their sporting activities.
Arlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who touched many lives.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
