Wakeford, Todd D.
Todd D. Wakeford, 43, of Hazleton, died Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2011, in Oelwein. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Leo Combs-Lay and the Rev. Charis Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Todd Duane Wakeford was born May 1, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard and Marcia Kay (Meskimen) Wakeford. He graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1986 and attended Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar for carpentry. Todd married Jodie Marie Ritter on Dec. 17, 2010, in Independence. He was a carpenter for Wakeford Construction Co. in Oelwein.
Todd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was an avid snowmobiler, bowler, and enjoyed roller skating.
Todd is survived by his wife, Jodie Wakeford of Hazleton; three stepchildren, Ira Kirkbride, Gabby Kirkbride and Wyatt Smith, all of Hazleton; his parents, Richard and Marcia Wakeford of Oelwein; sister, Theresa (Ken) Lent of Cedar Rapids; niece, Abigail Lent of Cedar Rapids; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special dog, Sammy.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
