Daniel R. Hutton, 66, of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made
to the Iowa City Animal Shelter or American Cancer Society.
Dan was born on April 17, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Mary Eileen (Keegan) Hutton. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. Dan was united in marriage to Anita Miller on July 22, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. He had a broad background in sales and financial investments before teaching in the Iowa City Community School District for 11 years. Dan recently retired and enjoyed spending time with his dogs, cars, golf and traveling. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and house. Dan was a voracious reader with a great memory. He had strong beliefs and opinions about current affairs, which he enjoyed discussing with others.
Dan is survived by his wife, Anita Hutton of Iowa City; and two siblings, Rebecca (Floyd) Latta of Cedar Rapids and Doug (Mary) Hutton of Cedar Rapids and their children, Dylan and Marissa.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Hutton.
