Report: Olaseni seen with walking boot
Jan. 27, 2015 8:43 pm
IOWA CITY - Iowa center Gabe Olaseni was seen wearing a walking boot over his left foot around campus, the Daily Iowan reported Tuesday.
Olaseni, a 6-foot-10 senior, told the Daily Iowan he suffered an ankle injury in the Hawkeyes' 67-63 loss at Purdue last Saturday. Olaseni had 16 rebounds in that game, including 11 on offense. It was the second-most rebounds by a Big Ten player this season.
Any injury suffered by Olaseni was not immediately visible during Saturday's game or afterward. Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said Monday that Olaseni may receive more minutes alongside center Adam Woodbury should forward Aaron White (stinger) either miss or be limited in Saturday's game against Wisconsin.
McCaffery was out of the area recruiting and unavailable for comment on Tuesday. Iowa basketball spokesman Matt Weitzel said he has not been notified of an injury. The team did not practice Tuesday.
Olaseni averages 8,5 points and 5.4 rebounds a game this year. Among Big Ten players, Olaseni ranks second in offensive rebounds (2.5 per game), fourth in blocked shots (1.8 per game) and 14th in free-throw percentage (78.2).
Iowa (13-7, 4-3 Big Ten) plays host to No. 5 Wisconsin (18-2, 6-1 Big Ten) at 11 a.m. Saturday on ESPN.
