Strachota, Violet 'Nonny' Novak
Violet “Nonny” Novak Strachota, 100, died at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Bohemian National Cemetery, Vining. There will be no visitation. Iowa Cremation is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include a nephew, William (Dianne) McRoberts of Spokane, Wash.; and her niece, Cornelia (Randy) Cooper of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elma McRoberts in 1996.
Violet was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Chelsea, the daughter of William and Ella Kupka Novak. She married Louis E. Strachota on Dec. 30, 1930, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Louis died Oct. 30, 1993.
Violet was a resident of Cedar Rapids since 1940. In 2000, Violet moved to Tama to Sunny Hill Care Center. She was a cameraman in offset printing at Collins Radio, retiring in 1969.
