King reflects badly on Iowa; lets move forward

Jul. 3, 2010 12:01 am
The rather startling words of Rep. Steve King of the 5th Congressional District of Iowa have focused national attention on who he is, where he comes from and where he and that part of the state are going.
The youths of Western Iowa, as with all of Iowa, are its greatest hope, and that hope looks forward to lives of care and concern for its elders and the embrace of rewarding lives for its youths.
Bitter words and votes that mark people as stranglers of civility are but commitments to an irrelevant past that cannot be dug from its moldering grave.
King belongs to a long dead past. Hopeful youths and wise elders of the western slope of Iowa cannot afford to go there. Best reflect on who they are, how they shall be seen and trust their votes to a better future - all others will naught but wait and watch.
