Sharon Sue Novak, 79, of Hartwick, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at her home.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine with Russ Spading officiating. Visitation will be a half hour before the service. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine at a later date.
Sharon was born on July 4, 1939, to Merlin and Arlene (Cross) Ealy in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, she was a secretary at HLV Community School. In 1958, Sharon married Allen Novak in Belle Plaine. Together, the couple raised their family in Hartwick, and Sharon worked for the Hartwick State Bank. Sharon continued her education through online classes, earning her degree in economics through the University of Northern Iowa. She retired from Verizon telephone company.
Sharon enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and playing cards. She belonged to a card club in Belle Plaine.
She is survived by her children, Scott A. Novak of Grinnell, Doreen Novak of Belle Plaine and Cole Novak of Grinnell; grandchildren, Lee, Lesley, Laura, Nick and Amanda (Todd) Timm; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Patty (Don) Franzenburg, Hope (Joe) Taylor, Merlin Ealy and Teresa Ealy.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Allen, in 2006.
