Burmeister, Betty Joyce
Betty Joyce Burmeister, 81, of Dysart, died Aug. 1, 2013, at Keystone Care Center in Keystone after a short illness.
Betty was born at her home in Irving, Iowa on Feb. 11, 1932. Her parents were Lester and Blanche Fullmer. She married Virgil Keith Burmeister on Jan. 27, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed for 42 years and retired in 1996.
Betty loved to play piano in high school. She also liked attending her father's polka band concerts in the surrounding area. She and her sister, Norma, would also sing along with the band when requested. As a homemaker, Betty was an excellent cook and baker. She also loved to garden. She belonged to many church groups and card clubs. Betty and Keith also used to love to go dancing.
Betty is survived by her four daughters, Deborah Karr of Murray, Utah, Carol of Albuquerque, N.M., Cheryl of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Denise (Doug) Krutzfeldt of Solon; three grandsons, Chad Karr, Brian Karr and Ben Krutzfeldt; two great-grandchildren, Kyah and Jagger Karr; and a sister, Norma DeWitte.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Elberon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. Burial will be in the Dysart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Elberon United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
