Koenig takes over at City High

IOWA CITY - Jeff Koenig has been hired as softball coach at Iowa City High.

Koenig is a 1986 graduate of West Liberty High school and attended the University of Iowa, where he was also a member of the wrestling team. He has worked at General Mills since 1993 and is currently serving as safety manager.

Through his career, Jeff has coached wrestling at the junior-high and high-school levels, and club softball.

As a club coach he has led his teams to an ASA state title as well as several other tournament championships. He has worked with the City High program as a volunteer for five years.

'Jeff is bringing an all-in approach to our program and we are looking forward to many years of success under his leadership,” said City High Athletics Director Terry Coleman.

Koenig succeeds Nick Niemeyer, who resigned after one season.
