Morrow, William C. 'Bill'
William C. “Bill” Morrow, 73, of Prairieburg, died in his home, Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the First United Methodist Church, Central City, by the Rev. Nick Needham. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his children, Leanne (James) Young, Curt (Carla) Morrow, Brett (Kelly) Morrow and Craig (Janet) Morrow; grandchildren, Eric Lewis, Amy Lewis, Brooke Young, Ryan Young, Matt (Amy) Morrow, Ben Morrow, Amanda Morrow, Lee Morrow and Billy Morrow; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Libby Gilbert; sister, Betty (Mike) Bowers; brother, Gene Morrow; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Peanut the wiener dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; brother, Fred Morrow; grandson, Todd Andrew Lewis; and a niece, Wanda Morrow.
Bill was born Oct. 20, 1937, the son of Layton and Veva (Brookhart) Morrow, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and grew up in and around Belknap. Bill served proudly with the U.S. Army and the Iowa National Guard before his honorable discharge in 1962. On Feb. 10, 1957, he married June Moyer in Anamosa. She died July 31, 2009. In 1974, Bill and June moved to Central City where they farmed. Later, Bill began to drive semi which took him all across the United States. He retired in 2008. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A memorial fund has been established in Bill's memory.
