No. 1, from start to finish

Pella, Iowa City Regina and Newell-Fonda have completed a wire-to-wire run as the No. 1 teams in their respective classes in the Gazette/KCRG/KGYM football poll.
The three defending state champions sit on top of Class 3A, Class 1A and 8-player. Just as they began the season.
Not much has changed atop the six classes for the past month.
West Des Moines Dowling (8-0), another defending champion, has been on top since beating West Des Moines Valley in Week 4. The Maroons drew six first-place votes and finished with a 78-72 edge on No. 2 Bettendorf (9-0).
Cedar Rapids Kennedy (9-0), Cedar Rapids Washington (8-1) and Ankeny (8-1) round out the top five.
Pella (9-0) has been a unanimous No. 1 all season after a dominant run to the 3A title last year. Cedar Rapids Xavier (8-0) and West Delaware (9-0) share the No. 2 spot and are followed by Webster City (9-0) in fourth, Independence (8-1) in fifth.
For the fourth consecutive week, Albia and Spirit Lake (both 9-0) have shared the No. 1 slot in 2A with 73 points. Albia received four first-place votes, Spirit Lake three. South Tama (9-0) is No. 3, followed by Anamosa (9-0) and Waukon (8-1).
Regina (8-1) begins its quest for a sixth consecutive state championship Wednesday, when it faces Bellevue. The Regals have won 77 of their last 79 games. West Branch (9-0) moves up to No. 2, followed by Underwood (9-0), Dike-New Hartford (8-1) and Van Meter (8-1).
BGM (9-0) has been the top-rated Class A team since Week 4. Algona Garrigan (9-0) is second, followed by Denver (8-1), defending champion Logan-Magnolia (8-1) and West Sioux (9-0).
Newell-Fonda (9-0) has led the 8-player pack all season, though Don Bosco (7-0) has cut into the voting gap. Marcus MMC (8-0) is third, followed by Glidden-Ralston (8-0) and Janesville (8-0).
