Paul Anderson, 98, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Living Center West. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park
Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Bonnie Koeppen officiating.
Paul Anderson was born April 16, 1916, to Frank and Elva Myers Anderson, in Bertram, Iowa. Paul graduated from Washing-ton High School in 1934. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., from 1942 to 1946. Paul was united in marriage to Dorothy Tilton on April 23, 1941, in Marion. She passed away in 2009.
He worked for Montgomery Ward and Sears as a tire salesman for 40 years. Paul enjoyed gardening, family vacations, playing cards, and especially spending time with his family. Paul was a founding member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
He will always be remembered for being a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Kerry) Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Judy (Bruce) Norden of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Alissa Cripe, Tara Norden, Austin Norden and Erin Hansen; great-grandchild, Aiden Cripe; and his sister, Mary Bozanek of Cedar Rapids.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy; his parents; two sisters; and a brother.
Paul's family would like to extend many thanks to all nurses, friends and family who gave him support and showed him kindness. Also a special thanks to the staff and residents at Evergreen Estates I.
