CHRISTOPHER ALLEN SCHMIDT
Cedar Rapids
Christopher Allen Schmidt, 41, passed away at his childhood home Dec. 3, 2018. The family will be having a celebration of living Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church, 1430 Ellis Blvd. NW, Cedar Rapids, officiated by the family's Pastor Susan. We want people to please come and celebrate the Christopher they knew, and share their stories and memories that we will be able to pass on to his kids, and help the family say goodbye to a life gone too soon!
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations, collecting money to aid in the treatment of those with addictions and mental illness.
Christopher was born March 4, 1977. He always followed in his father's footsteps, from his mischievous youth to his teens, where he found his love of cars. You could also find this proud pool shark playing anywhere there was 7 feet of felt! As an adult, he was always honing his creativity or woodworking; truly he could do anything he set his mind to.
If you were in need of anything you could always call him. Need a car repaired or just a friend to talk to? He was there!
He was truly a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews with his goofy voices as he was just a big kid himself. He was never anywhere without candy for himself and the kids.
He also had family ties thick as blood, Melissa Schmidt, Don Craig and Becky Higdon, and countless other cousins, uncles, aunts and truly anyone he met over the last 41 years!
Surviving Christopher are children, Alex and Austin, sisters, Charity (Dan) Harris, Christin (Brian) Maiers; parents, Carole (Berge) Schmidt-Stickley; nieces, Brittany, Stephanie, Raven, Kaylee and Dharma; and nephews, Dakota and Desmond.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, John and Kay Berge, Don and Beverly Andrews and Woody and Peggy Green; his father, Ralph Schmidt; and his beloved cat, Scooter.
