GoDaddy names new chief executive
GoDaddy will have a new chief executive at the start of next year.
The website hosting company, which has about 600 employees in Hiawatha, announced Tuesday that current CEO Blake Irving will retire Dec. 31. Irving served as chief executive officer for five years and oversaw the initial public offering of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based GoDaddy in 2015.
Scott Wagner, currently GoDaddy's president and chief operating officer, will take over as CEO after Irving's retirement.
'GoDaddy's trajectory is clear and our momentum strong. It is the perfect time to transition leadership to Scott Wagner,” Irving said in a news release. 'I couldn't be prouder of what the company has accomplished, and I am equally excited about what the company will achieve under Scott's leadership.”
Wagner was formerly with KKR, one of the private equity firms that bought GoDaddy in 2011. He had served as interim CEO, then as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Wagner was named president of the company in 2016.
GoDaddy recently celebrated a new look for its Hiawatha office, which includes a slide and a secret 'speak-easy” that serves as an employee break room.
