JAMES "JIMMY" OWENS
Marion James "Jimmy" Owens, 72, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home in Marion.
Jimmy was born on Jan. 16, 1946, in Cresco, Iowa. He graduated from Cresco High School in 1964. He was married to Ellie Anderson for 13 years. He enjoyed a career as a salesman. A longtime member of Fawn Creek Country Club, Jimmy was an avid golfer, who had the thrill of two holes-in-one. He was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes fan and liked to sing along to Jim Croce, Buddy Holly and the Statler Brothers. Jimmy touched many lives with his signature duck drawings.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Tracey Jo Lupa (Bart) of Elmhurst, Ill.; son, Steven James Owens of Denver, Colo.; brothers, John Owens (Maria) of Seal Beach, Calif., Gene Owens (Nancy) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Terry Owens of Cascade, Idaho; grandchildren, Jake Lupa, Matt Lupa, Skylar Lupa and Rhys Owens; nephew, Tim Owens (Brooke) of Omaha, Neb.; and many close friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, John Francis Owens, and mother, Genevieve Marie Owens (Biever).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Starlite Room from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 3300 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. The family requests no flowers.
Jimmy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We would like to thank everyone who was a part of Jimmy's life.
